The Open Source, Grossly Arbitrary, and Stereotypical Teenage Angst Manifesto

Well, my name is Corey Leckie and I made a blog. I guess this could be considered a new low in my addiction to undirected cynicism. I'm not gonna pretend my opinions are groundbreaking, and I'm not going to pretend anybody really cares. I'm not going to pretend that I am the first "independent thinker" to decide to spill my guts out on the internet. What I am going to do is question and nitpick everything I possible can before utter apathy turns me into a mindless drone to society.

Now here's the part where your mind is being bombarded with stereotypes. Right now you're probably drawing all kinds of preconceived notions about me. Perhaps you see me as a typical naive teenager who believes he is jaded. Maybe you see a lower middle-class teenager who has no right to be depressed when oh so many others have it worse off than him. Now here's the challenge, acknowledge these preconceived stereotypes right now, (whether they be true or not), and laugh right in their fucking face. There's nearly 7 billion people on this dying planet, odds are not one person is living an entirely unique and individual life. That's exactly where stereotypes come in, you would never be able to come up with a unique perspective for every individual, so we just lump them all together based on similarities: men, women, teenagers, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, poor people, rich people, gay people, straight people, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheists, lazy people, productive people, and so on.

In the long run though, stereotypes can genuinely ruin lives. Living strictly through a stereotypical perspective is like believing you know the whole movie just by watching the previews. To the egomaniac, stereotypes can be the ultimate fuel to feed their self importance. "Look at those bums, junkies, whack-jobs, and minorities. I'm sure as hell glad that I'm the epitome of the human race, or else I'd have no right judging every single fucking person I meet."

Then there are the self aware people, such as myself, who find stereotypes to be the harshest and most destructive form of self-criticism there is. Even writing this post I'm battling a barrage of thoughts of personal inadequacies, feelings of redundancy, and stagnant emotions. I just feel like every human being leeches off the psyche of others, that we're all parasites to this world and ultimately to each other. That's not to say i don't believe in some form of transcendence being possible in humans, I just find it extremely unlikely before some things are changed (oh yes, their will be dozens of anti-establishment posts on this blog, feel free to close out the web browser and/or vomit if i become to cliche.) Anyway, I'm still not sure why I made this blog, if anybody will ever read, or even if I'll ever post anything on it ever again. Maybe this blog will help myself and possibly others overcome self-anxiety and transcend egoism. Whatever the case, I'm gonna leave you with some rules I like to live by, you can call it my doctrine.

The Doctrine of Untitled

1. It is my civil duty to abandon civility when in the presence societal movement that i personally deem self-depreciative or destructive.

2. I pledge to never absolve my mind into absolutes, "truth" is only a form of humbled ignorance.

3. Confusion is not to be approached with animosity, but rather accepted. Mild aesthetic perception is always simpler to live by than intensive scientific understanding, as it is much easier to let go of once the mind decays with age.

4. I shall never abandon or underplay my own vocabulary. Words provide headway for new thoughts and inversely, thoughts create new words. I also must occasionally acknowledge that without speech, the contrast of silence would be less enjoyable.

5. I will never forget to vocalize my thoughts and opinions, whether others are around to hear them or not.

6. I must regularly classify egoic thoughts and impulses as what they are. The ego can make oneself mightier than god or more powerless than dirt. The result can lead one to perceive the world as turning to mud. Likewise, I must recognize when I egoically try to denounce my own ego, for it is through this process that I draw my amotivation and self-depreciation from.

7. I must acknowledge the hipocrisy of a society that preaches the divinity or humanity, whilst exhibiting blantant examples of animalistic, predatory behavior. It is my duty to either demostrate how humanity can rise above its antagonistic primal behavior, or disprove the dichotomy of humans and animals.

8. I must never underuse metaphors, as they are the most profound way to demostrate relativity lingustically.

9. I am to rise above the indoctrinating institutions of modern society. I do not believe who I am amounts to my birthname, social security number, education, career, material posessions, reputation, or recognized personal achievements. As such, I shall either find a more profound and true way of defining myself, or live in acceptance of my relative namelessness.

10. I will give both Western and Eastern Philosophical standpoints equal consideration. I will draw from the in depth analytical brilliance of Western Philosophy and the relative simplicity of Eastern Philosophy, while denouncing the dogma that both have garnered over the years.

11. I will acknoledge the limits of human perception. Experiences abstract from our 5 senses are imposible to perceive. As such, there are several matters that are out of reach
of a human's cognitive ability. Dwelling upon these matters is a futile and repetive process.

12. I will always take into account emotions and the human psyche. It is through emotions that conscious thought arises. I pledge to never munipulate the human psyche as world leaders, relgions, or media have for years. It is imperitive that I demostrate to other human beings the constraints of these institutions on their minds as well as the dangers of putting the worlds collective consciousness in the hands of a select few.

13. I will denounce the egoic concept of intellectual propreity. No idea comes singularly from a single indivdual, all ideas are derived from collective human knowledge and experiences. Once an idea is born, it is almost simultaneously cast into the collective human consciousness. Overemphasis on the messenger rather than the message leads to dogma and unnessecary conflict.

14. All Previously stated points of this doctrine are subject to change.
